Negotiations for UA Local 179 agreements are now complete

UA Local 179 Negotiations Complete
Negotiations for UA Local 179 agreements are now complete.The Commercial Negotiations Memorandum of Agreement as well as the Honeywell Negotiations Memorandum of Agreement were ratified by the membership on December 19, 2014. And the Refrigeration Negotiations Memorandum of Agreement was ratified on Friday, January 9, 2015.  Voting for all the agreements took place through an in person ballot vote at the UA Local 179 Union Hall in Regina (402 Solomon Drive) and the UA Local 179 office/JTC Training Centre in Saskatoon (334 Robin Way.) The contents of the Memorandum of Agreements are attached below and the wage summaries will be posted on the CLRS website at http://clrs.org/wagesummaries.phpThe results of the votes are listed below:

Commercial Negotiations Memorandum of Agreement Vote Results:
Total Eligible Voters: 329
Total Votes Cast: 65 (20% turnout)

Votes in Favour of the Memorandum of Settlement: 63 (96.9%)
Votes Opposed to Memorandum of Settlement: 2 (3.1%)


The Commercial Memorandum of Settlement is accepted with  wage summary option A ($0.25/hour per year increase to pension, $0.10/hour increase to local training in year one and the establishment of $0.01/hour for Helmets to Hardhats in year one and the remainder on wages) for the allotted wage increases. The employers have also ratified the Memorandum of Settlement. The wage increases are tentatively set to be effective  Sunday, January 4, 2015.  

Honeywell Negotiations Memorandum of Agreement Vote Results:
Total Eligible Voters: 7
Total Votes Cast: 7 (100% turnout)

Votes in Favour of the Memorandum of Settlement: 7 (100%)
Votes Opposed to Memorandum of Settlement: 0 (0%)


The Honeywell Memorandum of Settlement is accepted with  wage summary  option A ($0.25/hour per year increase to pension, $0.10/hour increase to local training in year one and the establishment of $0.01/hour for Helmets to Hardhats in year one and the remainder on wages) for the allotted wage increases. The employers have also ratified the Memorandum of Settlement. The wage increases are tentatively set to be effective Sunday, December 28, 2014. 

Refrigeration Negotiations Memorandum of Agreement Vote Results:
Total Eligible Voters: 56
Total Votes Cast: 20 (36% turnout)

Votes in Favour of the Memorandum of Settlement: 14 (70%)
Votes Opposed to Memorandum of Settlement: 6 (30%)


The Refrigeration Memorandum of Settlement is accepted with wage summary option B ($0.50/hour increase to pension in year one and $0.25/hour increase to pension in year two, $0.10/hour increase to local training in year one and the establishment of $0.01/hour for Helmets to Hardhats in year one and the remainder of the increases applied to wages) for the allotted wage increases. The employers have also ratified the Memorandum of Settlement. The wage increases are  set to be effective Sunday, January 25, 2015.
