Passing of UA Member Don McKinnon

September 17, 2021

Donald Evert McKinnon

Donald Evert McKinnon, of the RM of Lumsden, SK, passed away on Friday August 6, 2021 at the age of 82.

Don’s life centered around his family farm in the Tregarva area, where he and his wife Marianne raised their family. He was a farmer, a journeyman pipefitter, as well as a dedicated member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the National Farmers Union. He was community-minded and always willing to help anyone in need. Don was known as a “Farmer MacGyver,” a man who loved to figure out how things worked and how he could make them better. He loved curling, baseball, cribbage and square dancing. Most of all he loved his family.

Don was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Rachel (Greig) McKinnon; the love of his life, his wife Marianne (Deutscher) McKinnon; his infant son Ian Bruce; and his two brothers Melvin (Helen) and Martin (Elaine). He is survived by his son, Ian (Kathy) McKinnon; his daughter Kathryn (Richard) Pollack; and four grandchildren, Ashleigh, Maximilian, Jennifer and Benjamin.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Meadow Edge House for taking such great care of Don over the last two years.

Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Thursday August 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family wishing so may make donations, in memoriam, to Hospitals of Regina Foundation, in support of the Eye Care Centre at Pasqua Hospital. Donations may be made online at https://hrf.akaraisin.com/ui/HRFDonation, by telephone at 306-781-7500 or by mail to #225 - 1874 Scarth Street Regina SK S4P 4B3.
