It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ferdinand Janke, in Regina, SK on January 4, 2024. He was 93.

Ferdinand is predeceased by his parents Eduard and Elisabeth and aunt and uncle Mary and George Bollenbach.

Left to cherish his memory are wife Erika; his German siblings Ludwig, Oskar (Inge), Ernst (Evelin), Helene Becker, Anni Kohnke, Edeltraut (Siegfried) Schumann; stepchildren Michael Schlosser (Karen Morley) and Carmen (David) Knaus; 6 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren.

Ferdinand was born on July 17, 1930 in Strembenni, Romania. At the age of 14, he led his family with horse and wagon to Mecklenburg, Germany while his father was detained as a prisoner of WWII. Ferdinand immigrated to Canada in 1960 eventually becoming a Canadian citizen.

In his early years, Ferdinand helped his parents work the farm. Later, he became a Building Trades Journeyman (JTB) Plumber. In 1961, he became a member of the UA Local 179 and served as a member for over 60 years.

A private family interment will be held at a later date.
