Passing of UA Local 179 member Dennis Wolff
September 19, 2025
Wolff, Dennis Edward
September 16, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Dennis Edward Wolff, late of Regina, Saskatchewan, who entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at the age of 74.
Dennis was born on October 12, 1950 in Imperial, Saskatchewan to Anthony and Mary Wolff. He grew up on the farm 2 miles north of Liberty, Saskatchewan with his parents and 8 siblings. Dennis attended school in Liberty and Imperial and later attended the Saskatchewan Technical Institute of Moose Jaw, where he entered an apprenticeship in welding. Once completed in 1976, he joined the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union UA Local 179, where he remained an active member until his passing - 49 years total. This work took Dennis all over the country. He worked at various SaskPower plants, oil refineries, uranium mines, pumping stations, pulp and paper mills, anhydrous ammonia plants, nitrogen plants and multiple shut downs. Aside from his work life on the road, you could find Dennis (AKA Big Red) dancing away at The Pump Road House in Regina, travelling with friends or spending time with his brothers on the farm in Liberty.
Dennis was a hard-working man with a lot of grit and passion for the path he took in life. This supplied Dennis with an immeasurable number of friends over the years. He cherished each and every one of those friendships.
In April of 1991, Dennis was blessed with his greatest accomplishment of all, his son Scott Muhr. From that day on, his son was the centre of his life, and he couldn’t have been prouder. Just when he thought his heart couldn’t be fuller, he was gifted with a lovely daughter-in-law Nicole and soon followed his two grandchildren, Layne and Huxley. If you were fortunate to be in the company of Dennis over these last 12 years, then you were lucky enough to see and share in every momentous occasion that had taken place with his beloved family, because his favorite stories to share were of those, he loved the most.
Since the diagnosis of Dennis' cancer a year ago, it has been a true display of how strong and courageous of a man he really was.
Dennis was predeceased by his mother Mary; father Anthony; and his brothers Ken and Greg. He is survived by his son Scott (Nicole) and their children Layne and Huxley; siblings Bill (Mary-Rose), Laurie (Ron), Fred (Carol), Tom (Janet), Marlene (Lyndon) and Doug (Susan); sister-in-law Marrion; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Liberty Memorial Hall, Liberty, Saskatchewan on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
With Dennis’ retirement came a new passion in woodworking. He spent significant time and effort improving his ability and knowledge in creating art pieces made of wood, which he could share with friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to denniswolffmemorial@gmail.com where a woodworking bursary is being established in honor of Dennis Wolff.
