Passing of UA Member Ian McLaughlin

October 9, 2016

Ian McLaughlin
June 17, 1942 – October 9, 2016
Ian was born at Greenock, Scotland to John and Anne McLaughlin. In 1954, Ian and his brother, Jim, and their mother moved to Canada to join their father who had settled in the Regina area. Soon, Ian's father started McLaughlin and Clarke Plumbing and Heating. Later, Ian joined his father and business partner Ray in their plumbing business. Ian went on to work in a number of different large industrial settings before he retired in 2005. Ian and Patti enjoyed many years raising their family in Regina. They spent every summer camping and their love for Echo lake led them to relocate on retirement to Fort Qu'Appelle. Ian was active in both the Legion and the Lion's club – his love for community led him to lead in many projects. Ian passed away peacefully on October 9, 2016 at the All Nations Healing Hospital after a brave struggle with mesothelioma. He was predeceased by his mother (Anne) and his Father (John) and his grandson (Spenser Borlase). He is survived by his wife Patti (nee Morton) and his children; Doug (and wife, Shawna) and their two children, Liam and Dani; Heather Borlase, (and husband, Peter) and their two children, Fraser (daughter Olivia) and Hunter; Leanne and her two children, Aedan and Parker; as well as his brother Jim (wife Rae and daughter Jana).
