VOTE RESULTS: Memorandum of Settlement for Consideration in Industrial Negotiations
Voting on the Memorandum of Settlement for Consideration in Industrial Negotiations is completed. Voting took place through an in person ballot vote at the UA Local 179 Union Hall in Regina (402 Solomon Drive) and the UA Local 179 office/JTC Training Centre in Saskatoon (334 Robin Way) on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from noon to 9pm.
Results:
Total Eligible Voters: 783
Total Votes Cast: 374 (48% turnout)
Votes in Favour of the Memorandum of Settlement: 218 (58.3%)
Votes Opposed to Memorandum of Settlement: 149 (39.8%)
Spoiled Ballots: 8 (2.1%)
The Memorandum of Settlement is accepted with option A ($0.25/hour per year increase to pension, $0.10/hour increase to local training in year one and the establishment of $0.01/hour for Helmets to Hardhats in year one and the remainder on wages) for the allotted wage increases. The employers have also ratified the Memorandum of Settlement. The wage increases are tentatively set to be effective Saturday, November 8, 2014.
